Murray graduated from McGill University in 1978 with a Bachelor of commerce. He obtained his CA in 1982 and worked in the tax department of a major CA firm. Subsequently he worked in the insolvency field while developing a small base of tax clients. His basic nature was always entrepreneurial. His true passion was always to help small business owners achieve success. It was a natural fit in 1987 to acquire a practice dedicated to the entrepreneurs and the “little guys”. His strengths are taxation, business consulting and estate management.

Syd has always worked in the accounting field. He started at the age of 20 working for Mr. Peter Lurie, the preceding owner of the firm. He became a co-owner of the firm in 1987. His clients are fiercely loyal to him because they know that he takes their interest to heart. He is especially strong in personal tax, taxation for seniors, and small businesses accounting.

If you want to talk about dedication and persistence, then you’re talking about Sonia. She started working at the firm as a part-time bookkeeper in 1996 and moved up to an accountant position. She obtained her Bachelor of Commerce from Concordia University in 1994. She then completed her CGA while working full time and raising a family. Due to her hard work and perseverance at the firm over the past 20 years, Sonia is now a deserving partner. She manages a large portion of our accounts and specializes in accounting for construction companies. She also handles all our research and development credits. Furthermore, she is the partner responsible for all of our clients who work as independent consultants, many of which are international.

David joined the FDK family in 2011. He was previously employed as the in-house bookkeeper for a film production company. He now handles many of our small personal tax accounts and investment corporations. David also serves as our internal IT department and is responsible for ensuring that the firm remains technologically current. He is always on the lookout for what the new tech thing is (whether it’s accounting software or cloud based storage) to determine whether it can make the firm more efficient or improve our services. He has quickly become a valued asset and an integral part of our team.

Rachelle started as a part-time employee while studying in CEGEP and throughout university. She obtained her Bachelors of Commerce from Concordia University and a Certificate in Public Accounting from McGill University. Prior to re-joining the firm as a full-time employee in 2015, Rachelle worked in the audit department of a major CPA firm. She also passed the UFE and obtained her CPA Auditor, CA designation.

Cindy joined the team in 2010. She continuously demonstrates extreme dedication and is always on top of matters. In her previous employment, she was a bookkeeper and accountant at a large clothing distributor and has quickly learned the ropes of overseeing our clients with owner-managed businesses. Cindy now manages our group of independent consultants. Cindy has also taken on a personnel management role and handles the scheduling and workload for our part-time staff and junior team members.

She is fast, accurate and extremely knowledgeable in the preparation of GST, bookkeeping, payroll automation, accounting and personal taxation. Carole has been with the firm since 1996. Through years of experience and hard work, Carole has gone way beyond her bookkeeping responsibilities. She is now an expert at preparing both Corporate and Personal tax returns as well as the full set of Financial Statements.

Denise has been with the firm since 1995. She wears more hats than a baseball team. She is the go-to person for filing personal taxes electronically during tax season. She follows up all tax issues, personal documentation requests, corporate electronic filing, payroll automation, personal tax preparation, and assists in estate management.

Maria has been there to greet customers as they walk through our door since 1995. Maria has many functions at the firm from Client Services to Receptionist and more. She is responsible for coordinating with our clients for the signing of tax returns, financial statements and GST/QST returns. She is more than just our assistant; she is our back up and basically our rock to lean on. Fast and always efficient, clients love her openness and cheerful disposition and readiness to help.
